Well I knew that being in the operating room would be cool no matter what surgeries I saw today...but I had NO idea how AWESOME it would be to see an open heart surgery!!! I got to stand right in front of my patient...and see EVERYTHING! Wow...I am truly amazed at how real everything was! To see a beating human heart in person is totally different than the models you see in anatomy..thats for sure!!! The surgery lasted forever but getting to see all the cool and gross stuff just blew me away. I feel like I need to give some credit to those surgery nurses--they run that O.R. like clock-work! I was overwhelmed at how fast they maintained their sterile fields and kept a ba-zillion tools in order. I'm just so amazed...What a day! More to come soon...

- My name is Makensie and I am currently a student at Angelo State. I have a wonderful life full of amazing people that I love very much. I am currently working on becoming a registered nurse, and plan to become a family nurse practitioner in the near future. I absolutely adore children and love my job working with a special needs child named Caden. He is miraculous and reminds me just how powerful and loving our Lord is each and every day. When I'm not studying or watching Caden, I love to hang out with my friends and family as much as I can. I have been with an amazing guy named Zachary for five years now, and I have no earthly idea what I would do without him. I feel that when life is gettin' you down, one of the best things to remember is that there will always be someone that has it worse than you do, and that prayer is the best remedy for those who worry...like me :0)
